Named after the town’s celebrated entrepreneur and perhaps the first dweller, Jeffreys Bay, the paradise of surfers is located in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Fondly, it is called as J-Bay and is whispered as world’s finest right-hand point break in terms of both consistency and quality during season. The Supertubes is no more mysterious thing to surfing-savvy enthusiasts and draws grommets around the world. Even professional surfers become fond of it when they rise to the challenge of huge, upright and stretched swells with dipped tubes and experience the mesmerizing ride on some of the most remarkable waves of the world.

J-Bay is a home to the tall walls of waters where wave size ranging from 2 to 3 feet going up to 10 feet. These are known to be waves of Hawaiian size that brands it as South Africa’s iconic point break.

Jeffreys Bay is also renowned for the International Billabong Pro surfing tour, a 10 days surfing competition which J-Bay hosts every year in July at Supertubes. This event, the gathering of world’s best surfers and some of the best waves on planet, is believed as a must-perceive one. The live broadcast of this event can be viewed over internet and some TV channels as well. Though the coast here remains busy with surfers coming all through the year, the best time when the most consistent waves can be seen starts from the late May and lasts till the mid September.

Tubes, Magna tubes, Impossibles, Boneyards, Kitchen Windows, Albatross and the Point are some more break points there that can be named. In and around Jeffreys Bay, several sites offer great ambiance even for kooks or novice surfers. However, Jeffrey’s Bay and especially Supertubes, is the Mecca or pilgrimage of surfers.
