The Caribbean coast has some breaks during January which do not last till July but the Southern Pacific coast bestows some excellent break points during July. It shows how affluent Costa Rica is.

The Guanacaste-Nicoya and Punta Arenas are some of the legendary surfing spots on Pacific coast which are worth visiting during the rainy season (May to November). Some others on the Caribbean coast including Tamarindo (one of world’s best learn-to-surf waves), Puerto Viejo and Jaco are best to surf during the summer season (mid December to April). However, the major swell term begins in April and lasts till October.
