Tricks for the advanced surfer

advanced_surfeAs you turn into an advanced surfer, what you need to learn are the tricks. It is assumed that you already know all the tips there are to know about basic surfing and if you need any tips it will just be tips for the new tricks you need to pick up.Blowing your tail- Also known as Getting Loose, this is a trick where you ride up the wave nearly till the lip and then you make a rapid 180° change in direction.

The rear half of the board is thrown in the air along with a lot of water and you then glide a little along the lip of the wave and then come down.

Chop Hop: This is done by performing an Ollie, which is hop with your board, and doing a 180° spin and landing in the water with the tail ahead of the nose. It is then that you take another 180° spin in the water and resume your normal surfing. This trick is known to sharpen your skills in changing direction on the board.

Grab Rail Turn: There are very few occasions when you will actually be able to pull of this trick and they are when: the waves are very steep or when you are going really fast or when you are chucking a turn where you will not cut back into the wave whitewash. As you turn, you need to grab the board rails which is other side of the board from the side you are turning on and you will actually feel the board slicing the water.

Front-side Air: While learning this trick you need to be prepared to accept that you will probably break your board and have some really painful learning falls. The Front-side air will actually see you flying of the waves and landing the back on the waves without falling.

Alley Oop: This is really neat but tough trick. You need to go riding along the wave and the move up thrusting yourself over the lip and while you are in the air you need to do a 360° turn and come down riding down on the same wave.
