As even though the water may enter the suit, the insulation will be good enough for the body not to lose heat in the water. Wetsuits today are mostly made out of Neoprene foam, which is flexible and today’s technology also allows for Nitrogen bubbles to be infused in it. The wetsuits we get today are of two main types. One is the short suit which is about 2mm in thickness and covers the body from the knees to the neck and is also half sleeved. The full wetsuit is one which is mostly used by the divers and cold climate surfers which covers the area from the ankle to the neck with full sleeves and even a hood. The full wetsuit provides better insulation has been upgraded into a semidry suit which seals the water at the wrist ankles and neck. These wetsuits come even with boots and are used by surfers while surfing in cold conditions. This really helps the surfer and prevents him from contacting hypothermia, which is known to strike surfers even in warm weather. However when going into great depths, the nitrogen bubbles get compressed and the wetsuits are no longer efficient in keeping the surfer warm. The wetsuits we have today are able to combat even these issues. Manufacturers are making wetsuits with titanium fibers that do not only help the person avoid compression under that pressure but also make sure that the bubbles are not squeezed and thus the insulation remains effective. Although wetsuit are primarily made for insulation, they are also helpful in preventing aberration on surfers. They also come in variety of colors which mostly are blue, grey and black. |
