The Desert Point is a renowned left-hand point break, probably the heaviest one which can rarely be found anywhere else on the planet and so, one of the most demanding surf spots. Located in a rocky county of Lombok, Indonesia, that can better be accessed by the vessel; veteran surfers find it as a unique spot blessed with some of the longest waves in the world.

Unfortunately, the waves at the Desert Point are not at all consistent and that surely adds to its off-putting reasons.

At such a fickle spot, the waves are perhaps not as dangerous as the raging monotony one experiences when he has to wait long for an admirable wave. Until then, the odds to get bored while watching those flat swells are really high.The wave is extremely volatile and tide responsive.

If there is a big swell at high tide, the wave can be dismally flat. On the contrary if there is a low tide, it’s likely going to be a monster one breaking over shallow and toothed reef which may cause severe injuries or it may even turn out dangerous to the life.

In the sticks locality of it portrays how aptly it has been named as ‘the Desert Point’. This too, falls on the downbeat side of it as there are no necessary medical facilities available in the vicinity and one may have to travel for hours from the evil-desert to access the medical treatment. Few of the surfers also found the Desert Point catching the fiend malaria. The list does not end here itself, it seems like worst comes to its worst when you put hard slog to get to the place which is insanely crowded and the numbers keep increasing every year.

Put all the repellent facts together and you will come to know that it’s going to be a wicked surf expedition, unless you are an expert surfer. It’s absolutely not novice surfer’s sphere, so better not to attempt a shot there.
